Surroundings

Surroundings investigates the relationship of the environment to our habitat. Through a series of drawings and sculpture, the installation examines the question of sustainability with a backdrop of a rapidly growing population, high petroleum demand, accessible land use, unstable crop yields and global climate changing from year to year.

Our systems to foster the land are failing and our path to civility is heading to the irreversible. Yet, the demand for food and accessible land is escalating.

This narrative series includes over 20 of Savoor's small to large-scale drawings, depicting a dreamscape of a potential future where safe sustainable housing is increasingly beyond our reach.

Both drawing and sculpture respond to one another conversationally. Their intention is to engage a dialogue with the viewer by creating a thoughtful and surreal environment and awakening a desire to question our surroundings.
